Bryn Stevenson

Bryn Stevenson is a Kootenay-based artist whose work blends luminous color, bold mark-making, and inspired by natural beauty. Moving between abstraction and symbol, Stevenson builds images that feel discovered rather than designed—like fragments of the larger world surfacing through paint. Their compositions often carry a sense of heat and atmosphere: layered fields, energized edges, and forms that suggest terrain, bodies, or celestial phenomena without resolving into a single narrative.

Rooted in the rhythms of the Kootenays—seasonal light, vast weather, and the tension between wilderness and home—Stevenson’s practice is driven by curiosity and experiment. Each piece functions as a signal: part landscape, part dream, part artifact. The result is work that reads intuitively first, then rewards longer looking with depth, texture, and quiet intensity.
